ABOUT

This site is made possible thanks to the generous, long term support by ECE, and with additional rounds of funding from the SGA/Mental Health Coalition. While it is linked to ECE’s Student Engagement Well-Being efforts, the information shared here is available for all students across the campus.

The focus of this website is to offer insights, tips, and guidance on a variety of sensory-based stress management tools.  In today’s fast-paced world, we often become “top-heavy” and mentally overloaded, leaving our body’s sensory awareness behind.  By incorporating intentional breathing, body-based calming exercises, healthy sensory input, we can help initiate a cascade of positive shifts in our stress responses – helping us feel better, faster.

At Georgia Tech, we are fortunate to have many staff members who understand, embrace, and even passionately facilitate these practices through workshops and sessions.  Some of the tools used include “Tapping” and “Havening®.” While these psychosensory and sensory-based modalities are still considered emerging and experiential in the Western world, a growing body of clinical data and scientific research supports their effectiveness (Resources Page.)

Thanks to two rounds of SGA funding in 2023 and 2024, this new website, part of the Resilience@Tech initiative, was created to help expand access to these tools and reach more students.

As many caring members of our campus expressed, we operate on the belief that “if the information can help even one person who is struggling, it is worth the effort.”  We invite you to explore with an open mind and open heart.  Try out the tools and see how they may your well-being and mindfulness practice.  May them help you feel calmer, more grounded, and happier — and may you discover even more benefits along the way.

If the tools don’t click right away, consider joining one of our live events. Having a facilitator guide one through the process can often deepen the experience.
